We love new neighborhoods! There are several requirements for those interested in having PWYS in their neighborhood.
First, there needs to be an on-the-ground partner, neighbor, school, nonprofit, or CDC that invites us to come to their community and does the following:
- Identifies local, accessible, flat open space where sessions may be held
- Secures a safe, dry place to store our equipment
- Strategizes how to get children to come play.
- Documented interest among children before coming.
Start-up costs for a new field are about $5,000 for 8 weeks or 40 sessions of play. This includes cost of equipment, equipment storage as well as the ongoing cost of coaches’ salaries.
